SOME KEY U14 BATTLES HIGHLIGHTED COLUMBUS DAY SHOOTOUT

* In 14U action the Neponset Valley River Rats and the North Shore Wings skated to a 4-4 tie. The score was 1-0 River Rats after the first half off a goal by Jackson Burns. The River Rats doubled their lead early in the second on a goal from Joseph Galvin. The NS Wings cut into the lead on a power play goal by Matthew Zalewski, but the River Rats came right back with two more goals to take a 4-1 lead. It was far from over as the Wings powered through scoring three late goals, including two by Ryan Mogielnicki, to force a tie.

* The Seacoast Performance Academy beat the Long Island Gulls 3-2 in a close game. The Gulls got on the board first on a goal by Dominic Slevin, but SPA responded with three unanswered goals, two of them by Luca Desjardins to take a 3-1 lead. With 22 seconds left, Finn O’Sullivan cut it to 3-2 for the Gulls, but the comeback fell just short.

Connecticut Chiefs netminder Michael Rafferty snuffs out scoring attempt by Red Bank Generals forward Michael Gemellaro in Generals' 6-3 win.

* Christian Lava's two first half goals propelled the Boston Jr. Eagles to a 3-0 halftime lead over the Yale Jr. Bulldogs en route to an eventual 6-1 win.

* The Red Bank Generals got into the win column in Beast League play, doubling up the Connecticut Chiefs, 6-3.

* Andrew Dunleavy led the way with two goals as the East Coast Militia downed the Neponset River Rats, 5-2. Leo Zhu and Connor Meyers scored for the River Rats.
