The Long Island Gulls, New Jersey Rockets and Neponset River Rats drew the top three seeds for this weekend's Beast League U15 playoffs.

Quarterfinals will be held on Saturday at Rodman Arena in Walpole, with the semifinals and championship game on Sunday at New England Sports Village in Attleboro.

Four other U15 programs will vie for a title in the Gold Division (see schedule below).

QUARTERFINALS - Saturday, October 21

#8 New Jersey Titans vs. #1 Long Island Gulls, 11:40 am at Rodman

#7 Yale Jr. Bulldogs vs. #2 NJ Rockets Premier, 1:50 pm at Rodman

#6 Boston Hockey Academy vs. #3 Neponset River Rats 10:10 am at Rodman

#5 NH Mountain Kings vs. #4 East Coast Militia 10:00 am at Rodman

SEMIFINALS - Sunday, October 22

1/8 winner vs. 4/5 winner, 7:30 am at NESV 1

2/7 winner vs. 3/6 winner 7:40 am NESV 2

CHAMPIONSHIP -   12:30 pm at NESV

The 15U Beast League playoffs are approaching this upcoming weekend and there will be eight teams vying for the title, with some exciting matchups on the horizon.

The #1 seeded Long Island Gulls will be taking on the New Jersey Titans Saturday morning at 11:40 am at Rodman in the quarterfinal round. Some key players to keep your eye on are Kevin Lyoshir, Sean Miller, Jason Rothstein and Anthony Cutalo.

The #2 seeded New Jersey Rockets Premier will be battling up against the Yale Jr. Bulldogs 1:50 pm at Rodman. Nick Desiderio and Lucas Salvatore will be keys up front for the Rockets.

The #3 Neponset River Rats have been a team to watch all season and it will be no different in their quarterfinal game against Boston Hockey Academy on Saturday. Head coach Chris MacPherson hopes his team will have success and work as hard as they have been all season long.

“For us to be successful this weekend we will need to continue with playing a strong team defensive game,” said MacPherson. "We will also need to continue to get solid goaltending and we will need some opportunistic scoring from our forward group.”

MacPherson will rely on forwards Cameron MacPherson, Chase Field, Michael Federico, Ryan Bello and defenseman Thomas Broderick. Vinnie D'Urso and Cody Hew have been solid in goal.

Another team that is coming in ready to compete is the East Coast Militia. They have drawn the #4 seed and will take on the New Hampshire Mountain Kings in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Head coach Jack McIntosh is eager to see his team compete.

“For our squad to be successful this weekend we are going to need to get back to focusing on the little things that we were really good at to start the year,” said McIntosh. “Winning puck battles, moving the puck cleanly up the ice, getting puck pressure in front of their net and being better in front of our net. Our team is not about who will step up, but how we play as a unit both offensively and defensively. For us to win in this solid field, we will need to play with a lot of structure and have our goalies have the best weekend of the year. We gave the boys some time off this past week so I look for them to have fresh legs and fresh minds.”

Some forwards to watch on EC Militia are Whalen Chin, Christopher Carbone, Nicholas Stevens and Nathan Dono. On defense leaders have been Brian McFadden, Scott Crabtree, Hunter Lee and Gavin Thompson.

There also will be consolation games held for the losers of the quarterfinal matchups, and in the Gold Division, the losers of the semifinal games, so each team can have two games on the weekend.
