U15 GROUP PROMISES EXCITING ACTION THIS FALL

Expect some exciting action this fall at the U15 Level in the Beast Tournament Series.

Here is a look at a handful of teams competing:

EAST COAST MILITIA

With a bunch of newer players on the squad, head coach Nick Messina is excited for the talent they brought in and can’t wait to see how they compete.

“There was a big toss up with the 09 group this year for many teams,” said Messina. “I’m pretty happy with everyone we brought in. We have added a bunch of size and toughness to this year’s team. I’m pretty excited about everyone, we have some solid depth carrying four lines this year. These guys have a lot of grit.”

Some key forwards for the Militia include freshman Nick Bigelow (Hingham), freshman Jack Cannon (Barnstable) and Max LaRosa (Xaverian).

“We have a lot of depth and there are several other players who deserve mentions they have all been working hard all off season so we’ll let the results show us the pecking order,” said Messina.

On the blue line look for sophomores Will Song (Needham), Liam Sullivan (St. Sebastian’s) and Liam Connelly (Northwood). Sophomore Ryan Walsh (St Sebastian’s) will get the starting nod in net and the Militia will have freshman Nate Antebi (St. Sebastian’s) in the rotation as well.

“We are going to play fast and physical,” said Messina. “We want to be aggressive on the fore check and take away time and space. Offensively it’s all about getting to the net and playing strong in the high scoring areas.”

MAINE JR. MARINERS:

With a brand team team starting for the Maine Jr. Mariners 15U team, coach Kyle Becker is eager to see how his team develops and who emerges as leaders on and off the ice.

“All kids will try to take a leadership role,” said Becker. “The true leaders will come to the forefront as the season progresses. I am hoping for good team chemistry and growing as a collective group. We will be learning and growing together every game and we need to have the mindset of getting better every single day.”

The team will play out of Biddeford Ice Arena and some top forwards hoping to perform this season are Ryder Johnsen, Jackson Lindsley, Gio Santasusso, Andrew Pugliesse, Xavier Courtier, Soren Huvane and Liam Eslinger.

On defense, the Jr. Mariners will have Devyn Quan, Teddy Rossiter and Magnus Bregenhoj as cornerstones.

In goal, look for Connor Lilley, Nathan LaBelle and Dryden Waldschmidt to battle it out.

BOSTON HOCKEY ACADEMY

Coach Aran Ward takes over the reigns for the U15 Boston Hockey Academy team this season and he is eager to see how the talent unfolds.

“We have a talented group coming in for the 2009s,” said Ward. “We hope we can establish some lines and chemistry early. The key to team success will be establishing a defensive identity. We have an offensive minded defensive core, we will need to have to establish good habits early and limit odd man rushes.”

Ward is hoping forward Sam Ryan (Nova Scotia) will take on a big leadership role this season.

“We are looking for Sam to be an impact player on and off the ice,” said Ward. “Sam is a 200-foot center with skill and a nice scoring touch. Sam leads by example and is the model teammate and student off the ice.”

Also, key on the offensive line for Boston Hockey Academy are Maks Morgoslepov (NY) and Ryan Rheaume (Ottawa).

Some key blue-liners will be sophomores Jeshan Hayer (Calgary) and Oliver Scotland (Nova Scotia).

“Jeshan (Hayer) is an explosive skater,” said Ward, He is dynamic with the puck in open space and creates a ton of offense from the back end. He is a professional on and off the ice, his worth ethic will have a huge impact on the team.”

In between the pipes for Boston Hockey Academy will be Connor Elderworth (Phoenix).

NEW HAMPSHIRE MOUNTAIN KINGS:

New coach Mark Tagg is hoping his 15U New Hampshire Mountain King team sees a lot of team growth playing good competitive hockey this upcoming season.

Two key forwards Tagg will look to put the puck in the net are freshman Cam Riel (Hooksett, NH) and sophomore Luke Riethmiller (Virginia Beach, VA). Sophomore Casey Milekis (Auburn, ME) will also be in the mix.

On defense, sophomore Aaron King (Wolfeboro, NH) and freshman Davi Stochl (Dallas, TX) will log a ton of minutes. Sophomore Dominic Wenner (Frisco, TX) will be the starting goalie and sophomore Myles Taylor (Gilmanton, NH) will back him up.
