The Fall hockey season is upon us, and with it the opening of the 2024 Beast Tournament Series.

The league will have a host of games included in the Neponset River Rats Jamboree, to be held Sunday, August 25 - Tuesday, August 27 at a handful of Massachusetts arenas.

U18

Monday, August 26th

The first Showcase of the season features a rematch of last year's championship game when the Nor'Easter Storm, formerly the Avon Regals, face off against the Long Island Gulls. Game time is 7:30pm on Monday at Foxboro Sports Center.

The Storm will be led by forward Mason Minsky, a Miami of Ohio recruit, and defensively by the Salisbury duo of Connor Davis and Nicolas Petrut.

UNH commit George McCaffrey makes his Beast debut with the Gulls after playing with Mid-Fairfield last fall. The Gulls also feature goaltender Ryan Cameron, who backboned the Gulls U16 team to a USA Hockey Nationals championship this past spring.

Another game to watch has the host Neponset River Rats taking on the Yale Jr. Bulldogs. This one is slated for Tuesday at 10:30am, also at Foxboro.

Looking for big games for the River Rats are forwards Ryan Lucarelli and Joe Marchi, and defensemen Zack Skowronek and Peter Luecke.

Indiana Grossbard, a Dartmouth commit, will be tough to stop for Yale. Taft's Brady Smith will be a key on defense.

Another game to watch pits the Amherst Knights (formerly Buffalo Regals) against the Springfield Thunderbirds National. This one is Monday at 5:30pm at Foxboro.

Rob Savaglio and Logan Martel, who helped lead Canterbury to a NEPSAC title in the prep ranks last fall, lead the Thunderbirds on the blue line.

For Amherst, forwards Keanan Hodsgon and Owen Knight, both from Salisbury, and Sam Gero (Millbrook) look for a big game.

U16

A handful of Beast League games at the U16 level are also taking place at the River Rats Jamboree.

One to keep an eye on has the Nor'Easter Storm battling the East Coast Militia. Faceoff is scheduled for 4:10pm on Friday at Foxboro Sports Center.

The Storm will rely on the play of forwards Joe Banas (Salisbury) and the Avon Old Farms duo of Liam Donnelly and Jacob Jett. The Militia will feature some impressive young talent, with Thayer's Tommy Wilkinson up front, and the blue line pair of Brian McFadden (Thayer) and Kaidan Donia.

Another game to watch has the River Rats taking on Mid-Fairfield. That one is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:20am at Foxboro.

The Rats boast a premier goaltending duo of Vinny D'Urso and Colin Hew, along with forwards Mike Federico, Cam McPherson and Will Manchuso. On the other side, Mid-Fairfield saw almost its whole U15 team move up. A couple of key forwards are Joey Salandra, a recent Harvard commit, and Mason St. Louis.
