The #1 seeded Long Island Gulls are eager to get the playoffs started and as the defending champs have a good chance to repeat again. Up front, the Gulls have Kevin Lyoshir, Dylan Dean, Sean Miller, Egor Shilov and Matthew Portz leading the way. In goal, look for Yaroslav Alpatov who has done a nice job this season.

Second-seeded Boston Hockey Academy is battled-tested and ready to compete in this year’s U16 Beast Playoffs. Up front, they are led by Bexultan Makysh, Svit Ravnik, Ondrej Husak and Timothy Wang. They will face-off against #7 Yale Jr. Bulldogs at 1:50pm at the Cadillac Ice Arena in Walpole. The Jr. Bulldogs will look to Will Schlechtweg, Cole List, Logan Ferrara and Dylan Chery to lead the attack. Nickoalie Bazalitski, Chase Jelenic and Ryan Poirier are solid on defense. BHA beat Yale, 6-3 back in late August.

Mid-Fairfield, the #3 seed has had a great season and they are ready to take on the #6 Nor’Easter Storm in a quarterfinal battle at 1:50pm at the New England Sports Village. Some of their key players include Harvard commit Joseph Salandra, Colin Feeley, Timothy Donohue, Joseph Gannon and Owen Burke. The Storm will counter with the likes of Ethan Gingeleski and Joseph Banas.

In an earlier meeting, Mid-Fairfield picked up a 3-1 win over Nor'Easter.

One game that should be fun to watch is the #4 seeded Neponset River Rats against #5 East Coast Militia in another game of two teams that met during the fall season in Beast play (the River Rats won 3-0). These two teams will meet again for an epic battle on Saturday at 1:40pm at the Cadillac Ice Arena in Walpole.

Militia coach Jack McIntosh knows his team is ready and have already competed against of the top teams in the country.

“We have had a pretty solid season at Militia so far competing with the top teams in the country,” said McIntosh. "This leads into what we need to do in order to be successful. We need to score more goals. When we are rolling we have 12 strong forwards and six strong defensemen. We put a lot of pressure on teams and make them play in areas of the ice where they are not accustomed to playing. If we can start capitalizing on the opportunities, we create we can play with any team in the country.”

The Militia have had big Falls from Max Colosimo, Tom Wilkinson and Nate Moons, as well as Brian McFadden on the front end in front of goalie Eli Zucker.

JT Rothstein, Cam McPherson, Will Manchuso, Steve Rousell and Ethan Travis will be offensive threats for the Rats. Kris Soja and Tommy Broderick will be relied on in the defensive zone, while Vinnie D'Urso and Cody Hew are a solid goaltending tandem.
