U15 CROWN GOES TO SEACOAST PERFORMANCE ACADEMY; WESTCHESTER EXPRESS EARN GOLD TITLE

Seacoast Performance Academy is the 2024 15U Beast League Champions after a  pulsating 2-1 win over the Long Island Gulls in a well-played game.

Declan Wotton was the hero for SPA, netting the title-clincher in overtime. Wotton burst down the right wing side, swooped in and popped home the puck into the top corner.

"The win means a lot to the team," said SPA coach Dan O'Connell. "As coaches we demand and expect a lot of out these boys, so it's fun watching them have success and be rewarded for it. It gives them the confidence and belief that all the hard work they put in during the week is paying off."

Sean Sweeney got the scoring started for SPA at 7:47 of the first half on a power play goal assisted by Wotton.  Davin DiFlorio cut the lead in half minutes later, but SPA was able to hold on for the title.

Zander Rasmussen was solid in goal for Seacoast. 

15U SEMIFINALS

* Seacoast Performance Academy 3, Yale Jr. Bulldogs 0

SPA shutout the Yale Jr. Bulldogs 3-0 to advance to the championship in the first semi-final game.

* Long Island Gulls 5, Neponset River Rats 4

The Long Island Gulls advance to the championship after a 5-4 win over the Neponset River Rats in the second semi-final match-up. The Gulls were down 3-2 heading into the second half. Watson Prier and Daniil Butin put the Gulls on top early in the second with two quick goals, but Joseph Covelluzzi then tied it for the River Rats. Giacomo Del Priore was the hero for the Gulls as he scored the the game-winning goal to send the Gulls to the championship game for the second straight season.

15U QUARTERFINALS

* Seacoast Performance Academy 8, Springfield Thunderbirds 1

In a quarterfinal match-up between the number one seeded Seacoast Performance Academy and the eighth seeded Springfield Thunderbirds, it was SPA that came out on top 8-1. Lucas Desjardins led the offensive attack with a hat trick and Tomas Kubis, Declan Wotton, Sawyer Thompson, Rich Janniello and Noah Mazzola each added single tallies.

* Long Island Gulls 9, Boston Hockey Academy Prep 2

The Long Island Gulls advanced to the semi-finals after a 9-2 quarterfinal win over Boston Hockey Academy Prep. The Gulls were led by Giacomo Del Priore, Jayden Simpson and David DiFlorio who each scored two goals. Jacoby Palmer, Watson Prier and Greyson Smith also each lit the lamp. Maddox Franks got the win in net with 16 saves.

* Neponset River Rats 4, East Coast Militia 2

In another quarterfinal match-up from the top division, the Neponset River Rats doubled up East Coast Militia 4-2. The River Rats took a 2-1 lead in the first on goals by Chase Warsofsky and Joseph Covelluzzi. Kanata Mori scored twice in the second half to open up a 4-1 lead and they were able to hold off the Militia to advance to the semi-finals. Alez Zihang-Wang had 35 saves in goal for the River Rats.

* Yale Jr. Bulldogs 4, Boston Hockey Academy 3

The last match-up for the top division in the quarterfinals was an exciting one as the Yale Jr. Bulldogs beat Boston Hockey Academy 4-3 in overtime. Nathan Cook scored the overtime winner for the Bulldogs to send them to the semifinals in thrilling fashion. The game was scoreless after the first half and then the two teams each exchanged three goals in the second. Ryan Holmes (2) and Nicholas Ferrie alsoscored for the Bulldogs.

15U GOLD PLAYOFFS

The Westchester Express took home the 15U Gold Championship with a 3-2 win over the Red Bank Generals. The Express jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Jason Amer and Rogan Lester. They took a 3-0 lead on a power play goal by Dillon Skyes early in the second. Liam Duffy and Brody Riva pulled the Generals within one, but the Express held on for the big win giving them the title.

15U GOLD SEMIFINALS

* Westchester Express 5, Vermont Jr. Cats 0

It was a 5-0 shutout win for the Westchester Express over the Vermont Jr. Cats in a semi-final battle. Jacob Tuczino (2), Grey Barman, Dillon Skyes and John Hartney all scored for the Express who advanced to the championship with the win. Luke Fear was outstanding in net for the Express.

* Red Bank Generals 3, NH Mountain Kings Academy 2

The Red Banks Generals advance to the 15U Gold Championship game with a 3-2 win over the New Hampshire Mountain Kings Academy. With the two teams deadlocked at two after the first half, Jack Lemoine scored the game-winning goal for the Generals early in the second with the assist going to Michael Gemellaro.

15U GOLD QUARTERFINALS

* Red Bank Generals 10, Springfield Thunderbirds 1

The Red Bank Generals won in a big way beating the Springfield Thunderbirds 10-1 in a quarterfinal match-up in the gold division. The Generals exploded for eight goals in the first half. William Reed, Giovani Gemellaro and Liam Greenhall each scored a pair of goals for the Generals in the win.

* Vermont Jr. Cats 7, Nor'Easter Storm 1

The Vermont Jr. Cars beat the Nor'Easter Storm 7-1. Peyton Albertson and Joshua Dietz led the offensive attack scoring two goals apiece. Carlo Pizzagali, Cam Phelps and Vincent Lanzetta each added single tallies for the Cats.
