SEACOAST PERFORMANCE ACADEMY TAKES HOME U13 TITLE, EDGING THE YALE JR. BULLDOGS, 4-3, IN FINAL

The 2024 13U Beast League Champions are Seacoast Performance Academy after SPA edged past the Yale Jr. Bulldogs 4-3 in the championship game.

Julian Cruz was the hero for Seacoast, breaking a 3-3 tie with an unassisted goal with just 12 seconds to play in regulation.

SPA got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead with a first half goal by Braydon Hudson. The Bulldogs tied the game early in the second on a goal by Alessio DiCamillo.

Patrick Taylor scored twice in two minutes to put SPA in front 3-1, but the Bulldogs came right back with two goals of their own on goals by Andrew LaCasse and Alessio Dicamillo to tie the game.

13U Semifinals

* In the first semifinal match-up in the 13 U Division, Seacoast Performance Academy advanced to the championship with a 2-1 win over Northern CT Nor’Easter. Berk Davidson and Jack Puorro each scored and Alli Hamlen was outstanding in net.

* The Yale Jr. Bulldogs had a big 7-3 win over the Long Island Gulls to advance to the championship game. The Bulldogs came out of the gate on fire scoring six goals in the first half. Cody McClure notched a hat trick, Andrew LaCasse and Christopher Newson each scored twice.

U13A Round-Robin Play

* The Long Island Gulls kicked off the 13UA action with a 5-0 shutout win over EC Militia. Ryan Reasoner and Nicholas Best each had two goals and Brian O’Reilly delivered the shutout in goal.

* In their first game of the weekend, Seacoast Performance Academy defeated the Northern Connecticut Nor’Easter 5-2. SPA jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half on goals by Patrick Taylor (2), Jack Puorro and Griffin Watts and never looked back.

* The Long Island Gulls improved to 2-0 on the weekend with a 5-3 victory against the Northern Connecticut Nor’Easter. Nicholas Puma powered the Gulls offense with four goals. Samuel Mahoney also scored in the win.

* In a tight 4-3 battle, it was the Seacoast Performance Academy that came out on top against EC Militia. Berk Davidson scored twice for SPA, who also got goals from Patrick Taylor and Julian Ruiz.

* In their third game of the weekend, the Long Island Gulls cruised to an 8-2 win over Seacoast. Steven Denis led the way with two goals, while Ryan Reasoner, Ethan Nelson, Luca Rose, Thomas McNelis and Benjamin Cain all added one.

* In an overtime thriller, the Northern Connecticut Nor’Easter got their first win of the weekend with a 4-3 win over EC Militia. Brady Meehan scored the overtime winner for the Nor’Easter a little over a minute into overtime. Zach Kinkade, Emmett Holland and EJ Lang also added single tallies.

U13B Round-Robin Play

* In the first game of the 13U B Division, the Northeast Generals snuck past the Red Bank Generals 2-1. After no goals in the first half, Ronan Smith scored two in the second to give the Northeast Generals the win.

* In comeback fashion, the Yale Jr. Bulldogs beat the Springfield Thunderbirds 4-3. Down 3-1 early in the second, the Bulldogs scored three unanswered on goals by Christopher Newson, Cody McClure and Matthew Matouk to win.

* The Springfield Thunderbirds improved to 1-1 on the weekend with a 5-4 win against the Northeast Generals. Max Matthews, Ryan Orszulak, Nathan Ribeiro, Charlie Hensch and Holden Iglesias all scored for the Thunderbirds.

* The Red Bank Generals and the Yale Jr. Bulldogs skated to a 2-2 tie. Andrew LaCasse and Levi Indes scored for the Bulldogs while Colin Johnson and Anthony Patsey lit the lamp for the Generals.

* In their third game of the weekend, the Red Bank Generals shut out the Springfield Thunderbirds 2-0. Colin Johnson and Justin Blair-Herms each scored and Tyler Lloyd was terrific in net.
